The buyer carries the risk, and knows it
The Danish Consumer Ombudsman's guidance is clear: the business that contacts the consumer is responsible for the contact being lawful, including when it bought the consent from someone else. Those who helped collect an invalid consent can share responsibility (guidance).
In a review of six lead companies, the Ombudsman found consents from competitions where prizes weren't drawn as promised to be invalid, and reported several of the companies to the police (source). In July 2026 it reported a Danish electricity company that had bought consents from partners (source).
Where the Robinson list fits
A lead with valid consent naming the buyer may be called even if the person is on the Robinson list. But that person has opted out of marketing in general, so if a complaint comes, it will likely come from them. Some buyers simply leave them out.
For leads used for addressed mail, or for calls about exempt products (insurance, subscriptions, books), the Robinson list decides on its own.

Deliver checked leads
Check each lead when it's collected, through our API, or check files when you deliver. Every delivery gets a check receipt the buyer can file: time, Robinson list edition and row count, with no personal data. As a partner, the receipt can carry your name.
Leads have a shelf life
The Robinson list is republished every quarter, and unused consent probably lapses after a year. Recheck leads at delivery, not only at collection.
